Noémie Schellens is a Belgian light lyrical soprano. She sings opera, oratorio, baroque music and contemporary music.
Her warm, sincere and moving timbre inspired people in many areas. Thus, as a cultural ambassador titled by her hometown, a French top wine bears her name, songs are composed for her.

Noémie graduated with a Master's degree in Voice from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. Afterwards she studies in France with the German baritone Udo Reinemann. She follows master classes with Mia Besselinck, Margarida Natividade, Susanna Eken, Yard Van Nes, Keith Warner and Boudewijn Jansen (DNO Amsterdam).
She received the prestigious "Medaille Bronze Arts Sciences, Lettres" in Paris. She is currently being coached by the Dutch soprano Charlotte Margiono.

She collaborates with orchestras and ensembles at home and abroad. Last season she sang with the National Orchestra Belgium conducted by Hugh Wolff. With the children's opera Detskaya (Mussorgski) she sang in the Opéra Bastille, Paris and Opéra de Bordeaux. She has performed on the stage of Opera Dresden (Irene K), De Munt (Frascati Symphonic), BOZAR, De Singel, ...

She forms a close duo with guitarist Maarten Vandenbemden, with whom she regularly performs throughout Europe.
For the XIVth Sommet de la Francophonie she sang in the Stade de Martyrs Kinshasa, Congo and in Kampala (Uganda).

She also likes to walk less obvious paths: there are the multidisciplinary performances with Sacred Places (Sao Paolo, Brazil, Visoes Urbanas / New Delhi, DIAF-Delhi International Art Festival), the performance “This is Propaganda” (Tino Sehgal ), the creations with Muziektheater Transparant (Big Bang, Opéra de Lille, Opera-ballet Flanders) and the recent collaboration with Bassel Abou Fakher and the Qotob Trio.

She sings creations by contemporary classical composers Walter Hus (Er-varen), Peter Ritzen (Spanish Songs), Martin Valcke, Orlando Gough (Shouting Fence, Kaaitheater) and Peter Spaepen (Woesj 4Hoog, international tour)

As theStadssopraan  of Leuven, she organizes 10 major projects (including “Canta Luna” a multichoral open-air opera, and the “Opera Mobile”, a traveling concert stage)

She is a vocal teacher at the Koninklijke Muntschouwburg where she coaches the soloists of the children's and youth choir.

Noémie is also a passionate actress, a love that also brings her to the silver screen: Annette, the new film by French director Léos Carax, the British feature film “A Quiet Passion” by Terence Davies, in which she plays the role of Mabel Loomis Todd.
For the Belgian film "Achter de wolken" she participates in the soundtrack. She acted in the video clip 'You and Me' by Milow and numerous Belgian series (Zuidflank, Code 37, 13 Geboden, ...)

Together with visual artist Pieter Janssens, she is creating a Corona-proof total concept this summer. Accompanied by a small harmonium she sings in the "Opera Barca", a boat from the 1970s transformed into a baroque opera boat that crosses nature at nightfall.
