   Noémie Schellens sings as a solo soprano both light lyrical opera repertoire, baroque and contemporary music.

She received her Masters Degree at the Royal Conservatory Brussels cum laude. After that, she studied in France with the German baritone Udo Reinemann. At the moment she is coached in the Netherlands by Charlotte Margiono.

She follows masterclasses by Mia Besselinck, Ingrid Voermans, Margarida Natividade, Susanna Eken, Yard Van Nes, Keith Warner and Boudewijn Jansen (DNO Amsterdam).

She received the prestigious ‘Médaille Bronze Arts Sciences Lettres’ in Paris. 


She sang the role of Barbarina in ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’ (W.A.Mozart) in the Operastudio by De Munt / La Monnaie led by Peter Tomek,

Pamina in ‘Die Zauberflöte’ (W.A Mozart) 

Fiordiligi in Amo, Amas, Amai in the Zomeropera Alden Biezen. 


For the occasion of XIVe Sommet de la Francophonie (2012) she gave concerts in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, amongst others in the Stade of Martyrs for 85 000 people.


Noémie has a specific love for contemporary music: 

she sang amongst others the European creation of “Three Spanish Songs” by Peter Ritzenm who played the piano himself; the composition “Er-varen” and “Taptoe” by Walter Hus; and the soprano solo in ‘The Shouting Fence’ by Orlando Gough, a grand production about Israel/Palestina.

She sings the performance ‘This is Propaganda’ by the artist Tino Seghal (Biënnal Venice). 


From 2012 to 2014 she is appointed as the StadsSopraan (cultural ambassador) of the city of Leuven, Belgium. As such, she organises ten big projects, a.o. the travelling musicstage called “Opera Mobile”, together with the city of Leuven and theatre 30CC.   

Noémie is also Fair Trade ambassador and godmother of the recently discovered Hawaiïan music handwriting that is now being restored by Damiaan Vandaag.


Soon she will sing in a new opera for children with music by Peter Speapen, and in chambermusic programs in various formations. 

In november 2016 “A Quiet Passion”, an award-winning costume movie about the life of Emily Dickinson by Terence Davies will premiere. Noémie will be interpreting and singing the role of Mabel Loomis Todd, with Cynthia Nixon, Jennifer Ehle and Keith Carradine. She will song in May 2017 concerts inSao Paulo, Brazil.
